Standard operation is normally closed (air x spring) and opened with air pressure controlled by a remote 3-way solenoid valve. When air pressure is relieved, a non-wetted internal spring automatically closes valve. 40 PSI is required to fully open the air x spring version; maximum air pressure is 80 PSI.
The valve can be ordered, or easily converted to, a double-acting (air x air) design. In the double acting design, a remote 4-way air solenoid valve is used to control air pressure to open, and air pressure to close. Air x air requires 15 PSI to open full stroke, 20 PSI to close bubble-tight against 25" of water column. The air x air version can be used for much higher head pressure by increasing the air pressure used; maximum air pressure is 80 PSI.
SERIES BSDA/BSDAM Compact valve features PTFE diaphragm with no wetted elastomers or metals. The PTFE diaphragm is backed with an elastomeric diaphragm to enhance flexibility and improve longevity. Valve bodies are available in Geon® brand PVC, natural unpigmented virgin polypropylene, Kynar® brand PVDF, and PTFE. This valve is ideal for high purity processes such as deionized water, as well as ultra-harsh chemicals not compatible with elastomers. Series BSDA is available in pipe sizes 1/4" through 1½", with threaded, socketed, and spigot ends. Please note: Series BSDA supersedes Series BSD. Dimensions are unchanged.
